A family of 5 came and ordered 5 different meals. All 5 meals were VERY delicious. The quality of the bread was exceptional. I ordered the schnitzel with the pretzel roll, my wife ordered the vegetarian panini, my brother in law ordered the mahi sandwich, my sister ordered the french au jus an my niece had the potato pancakes. Each was excellent! We'd recommend stopping in for lunch. 5 out of 5 stars! Looking forward to the desserts they've got lined up for us!

This is a great hidden treasure in New Smyrna Beach. The "Deli" in the name can throw you off. The chef is outstanding and puts out some top quality food. Small and casual, good staff, great German food but also traditional dinners including Angus beef, prime rib, corned beef, duck, fish and his famous Schnitzel variations. We winter in NSB a month every winter and always come here for lunches and dinners. Perfect for quality deli style lunches of course. Guy C.

I was going to go to lunch with my mom in New Smyrna Beach, so I went on Yelp to look at all the lunch restaurants. Many of them came off as tourist traps, with indifferent service and lackluster food. Then I came upon this one. The glowing reviews and unique menu items caught my eye, so we ended up there on a Saturday afternoon. We both ordered the Schnitzel sandwich and a side of German potato salad. Upon catching sight of the dessert case, I made a mental note to save a LOT of room for dessert. You could hear the schnitzel being pounded to order. It was served fresh and hot on pretzel bread, which was quite possibly the best sandwich roll I've ever had. The potato salad was flavorful and stronger on the mustard side than most American potato salad. The sandwich was quite large and I could have happily split it in order to save room for dessert. We ordered warm apple strudel and a slice of berry shortcake. The apple strudel was filled with spices and not too sweet. The berry shortcake had a shortcake crust, a layer of pastry cream, and a topping of fresh berries. It was my favorite of the two, but it was a close call. Both desserts had been freshly made in the restaurant, which seems to be a rarity these days! Overall, this is the best restaurant I've been to in ages. The lighting is soft, the music is relaxing, and the restaurant itself is extremely clean and tidy. The people who work there clearly have pride in what they do, and it shows. Try this place, you won't be disappointed! And make sure you save room for dessert! (We even brought home slices of apple crumb cake, too!)

What a great little find!! Absolutely fantastic German food, extremely friendly service, the schnitzel is AMAZING, and they have Franziskaner Weissbier served ice cold!! They have made to order deli sandwiches with the freshest meats in town. The meal starts with great customer service, complimentary bread with whipped butter then the main course! Oh wait! There's more ... the DESSERTS!!! The homemade apple strudel warmed and served with ice cream is TO.DIE.FOR! Next time, I'm going to try their "Beesting" cake! If you're in the New Smyrna Beach area and looking for a great place to grab a deli sandwich to take to the beach or a great sit down dinner ... This is the place to come hang out and enjoy a little piece of heaven (aka Germany)!!

We stopped in here based on yelp review and this gem was not a disappointment. We're transplanted New Yorkers who appreciate fine dining. Although the restaurant was simple, yet clean, the food was off the charts. We haven't had decent German cuisine in the 11 years we've lived in this state. Must stop in for a little sauerbraten

This little restaurant is a hidden gem. I would give it 5 stars if it had nicer chairs and tables, more like a deli but the food either lunch or dinner just blows you away. Not crowded, large selection of beer and a few wines. Have been here twice in Feb of 2014 and came home completely satisfied, not crowded and noisy like rest of local restaurants, owner and chief chef even poured our drinks. He is a young German and really knows how to cook. Dan. Feburary 2014

Another outstanding meal. Another server would be helpful. Then I would give 5 stars! In my update, I have to go to 5 stars. The food is just amazing. No bad choices. All delicious. In spite of the fact that one server does it all, the service is very good. But you do get breathless watching her work. How about some help? Water carafes on the tables would be a help.

Schnitzel on pretzel roll- one of the best sandwiches I have ever tasted. Also sell deli meats, fresh rustic breads and salads. Dinner time has a sit down menu and entrees from $12.95-24.95. Lunch has sandwiches, etc. Great place! Went back for dinner and had the Schnitzel and the Sauerbraten. Excellent. Probably the best German food I have ever had.

What a nice little German gourmet deli restaurant! We went to this place because of the good reviews on Yelp and we were not disappointed. The waitress was great and knew just about every customer that came in the door so they have lots of repeat business. My wife had the chicken fricassee and the presentation was great and she enjoyed every bite. I had the Manhattan clam chowder and the Boston Cobb salad and I also enjoyed every bite. The chef came out to great customers which is a nice touch. The deserts all looked awesome but we chose the German chocolate cake which was delicious. We were there for dinner but they serve lunch as well and had a huge selection of deli sandwiches to choose from. I highly recommend this nice little restaurant!

Found this restaurant by chance. What good luck! Schnitzel was the best this side of Vienna (and I know). Deli is a nice feature. Wait staff bright-eyed and helpful. Nice wine prices. Give it a try. Try Thursday for the specials.

Felt a little short staffed, but very pleasant atmosphere - top notch food and beer - friendly staff - good stuff! We'll definitely be back.

Excellent chicken liver and onion sandwich. Son had cuban pressed pork and ham sandwich and daughter had BLT. Homemade chips included in price. Very cozy and comfy inside.

Located in a quiet strip mall, this German deli is pretty unassuming. The workers were very pleasant and the place smelled really good. We ordered takeout and it took quite a while to get our order put together. It was really worth it, though. I got a simple French Dip with au jouis, my wife got a corned beef Reuben--we both loved our sandwiches. The extended family was really happy with their selections as well. Despite it being "just" a sandwich, it was still among the best food I've ever had in NSB. Highly recommended!

  • Catherine S.

Our new favorite NSB restaurant! Quaint. An unexpected pleasure - food is wonderful and the service superb. One of the cleanest restaurants we have ever been too - this place sparkles! Lots of attention to detail that is not typical for NSB. A welcome change!

A great German deli restaurant! Have been there twice. First time I had the Rouladen (German rolled beef) with spaetzle noodles and red cabbage. It was very tasty and the portion was very generous, you actually get two rouladen. The second time I had a pork schnitzel with German style pan fried potatoes and red cabbage. The schnitzel was crunchy but still moist on the inside. The pan fried potatoes were just the way I remembered them from Germany. Their deserts are outrageous, all made fresh right there. They offer a lot of German specialties. What a great find!

Love their Cuban sandwich. They have excellent fresh bread and deli meats. Friendly service and the schnitzel is terrific!

  • Jo A.

10 of us ladies had lunch there & 9 out of us loved the food. The other person doesn't like German food & is difficult to please, so I think 9 out of ten is pretty good as is the schnitzel

We've enjoyed many lunches but decided to have dinner here with another couple for audible conversation. White linen table clothes changed the mood for evening dining Three of us ordered schnitzel dishes and my husband loved the pork shank special. No appetizers. Each dish came with two sides. There was no room for the desserts which all sounded amazing. Michelle, out server was sweet and gracious. All 4 of us were very happy.

Just had lunch and it was excellent! Best Cuban sandwich I have had and the home made chips were tremendous! Yummy!

Let me begin with I'm German so I'm a little more stingy with my stars for this place. We stopped in for dinner after work. It's a small deli type atmosphere with linens. I had the pork special and unfortunately it was very fatty and not pounded to perfection. My husband had the snitzel and loved it. I felt it was just ok since my mother makes an amazing snitzel. I will try again, possibly trying the sausage that's offered.

We just had dinner here. It was great! I had the special and my my wife had the Beef Rolladen. They were both great! Andreas and Michelle were great and very attentive to us. Coming back as soon as we can! Darryl

We went here because the reviews were good but we're pretty disappointed in the meal. It was bland and obviously just microwaved. Felt like we paid for more than we got. Good beer selection though.

What a delightful discovery in this sleepy strip mall off of New Smyrna Beach! I had the best Ruben sandwich in years. My husband had a delicious chicken sandwich with big chunks of freshly roasted chicken. Both sandwiches were served with a side of home cut potato chips. I will definitely be back when the opportunity arises.

The food was absolutely spectacular. Service was amazing. Our lady server was the kindest and most gentle woman that has ever served me a Schnitzel. The Schnitzel...was moutwatering. The Escargot was bold and super tasty - mopped up that sauce with the toasted bread...sooooo good. Finally - they had all the beers I could ever want, and sweets to boot! You must go...but with an appetite!

  • Cynthia M.

Don't be fooled by small, strip mall presence, the food and service are top notch. Michelle, our server, was perfectly charming and efficient. Bouillabaisse sublime and we've never had better German food.
